How to Use In-App Events
This article covers In-App Events, an in-store feature for iOS apps.
In-App Events let you increase your visibility in the App Store without spending any money, so they are well worth checking out.
What Are In-App Events?
By creating an “event card” for a timely event happening in your app, you can have it appear in many places across the App Store. Users can discover in-app events directly in the App Store on iOS and iPadOS.
This helps you acquire new users, inform existing users and re-engage dormant users (Apple, “In-App Events”).
When users tap an event card, they can see the event details. On the event card and the event details page, users can choose to be notified by the App Store when the event starts. Also, after a user downloads the app from an event card and taps “Open”, you can take them directly to the part of the app or game related to the event.
Event cards can appear in the following places.
- Product page
- App search results
- The Today, Games and Apps tabs
In-App Event Examples
- Example 1: In-app coupon: An In-App Event run by a live-streaming app. It announces a coupon campaign usable within the app through an event card, increasing both visibility and conversions.
- Example 2: In-game event and boosted rewards campaign: An In-App Event run by a game app. It promotes a limited-time boosted rewards campaign through an event card, helping re-engage dormant users.
- Example 3: New feature release: An In-App Event run by a location-sharing app. It places an event card to coincide with a new feature release, aiming both to inform existing users and to acquire new ones.
As these examples show, whenever you have an in-app campaign, a new feature release, a major app update or new content going live, prepare your In-App Event well in advance.
